Namaskaram to All,
Wednesday (21st May) is the tenth and the last day of the wonderful Brahmotsavam in Perumal kovil.
The day's events would start with Dwadhsa aradhanam, in late morning. In the evening we would have purappadu in Vettiver chapparam followed by Dwaja Avaroganam, Vedai sathithal, Rakshabandanan visharjanam and finally Archakar mariyadhai.
Dwadhasa arathanam is performed on the last day of Brahmotsavam to remove any thiruvaarathana lobham during the utsavam. In brief, thiruaradhanam is performed 12 times. During the 12th time pushpa yagam would be performed. During this time vedaparayanam would be followed by rendering of Thiruvaimozhi. The event would conclude with Vedaparayana satrumurai and Thiruvaimozhi satrymurai, in melodious tunes to Perarulalan's pleasure.
In the evening Perarulalan would adore Thanga Thiruabishekam and would get on his Vettiver chapparam. The chapparam would be decked with vettiver and beautifully decorated with flowers which would be treat to all our senses. In this puruppadu Perarulalan would not go till Gangai kondan mantapam but would just visit the 4 maada veedhis.
Once Devathirajan is back in Kovil, he would proceed to dwjasthambham to oversee Dwajaavarohanam, the garudan flag that was hoisted on the first day would be lowered. The lowered flag would be placed on Devathirajan's thiruvadi.
Next event is vadai sathithal, in which all the assembled are informed about the various that took place during the utsavam and are thanked for their presence.
On the way to thiru malai Devathirajan would exchange maalai with Andal. Once he has reached his asthanam visharjanam of rakshabandanam would be done for Perarulalan and the officiating archakar.
Mariyadai would be done for the officiating archakar by presenting Perarulalan's slik duppatta, parivattam & maalai.
With this the Brahmotsavam would come to an end.
I thank all of you for having spent your valuable time in reading my mail & your kind words of encouragement. During the last so many days, with my limited knowledge, tried to sow the seed of interest, am sure with the blessings of our Divya Dhampathis, it would germinate in to giant banyan tree in due course. Thanks also to the temple authorities specially Sri. N. Thayagarajan (E.O.) for organizing the excellent event.
Due to time / space / knowledge constrains was not able to share all the details of Varadar & Perumal kovil. As a next step, I would request you all to visit Perumal kovil whenever feasible, in your hectic schedule, to get Perundevi thayaar's and Devathirajan's anugraham in person. All bhatters, without exception, are so kind and willing to explain all the details patiently, so make the best use of their love towards our Divya Dhampathis.
The festivities in Perumal kovil would continue till 1st June, before we have a short break, try and be part of them if possible.
- Vidayathi utsavam from 22 May ~ 24 June

May the Divine blessings of our Thayaar and Perarulalan be always with you and your loved ones.
